KF Flanged Kodial Glass Viewports

These KF flanged glass viewports are available to suit a variety of applications. Viewports can be used to: let the operator view a process; initiate chemical or physical action using specific wavelengths; make measurements of emissions occurring in a process; or to monitor the effects of specific wavelengths (ellipsometry).

KF Flanged Kodial Glass Viewports Features:

  • Made from 304 Stainless Steel, Kovar, and Kodial glass
  • Standard KF style fluorocarbon o-ring used to affix to chamber
  • Due to the performance of fluorocarbon o-rings, the maximum temperature allowed is 200°C

    All viewports are fragile and should be handled and mounted with extreme caution. Never scratch the viewing area-a weakened viewport may implode (or explode under wrong conditions). Make sure the "glass" chosen has a reasonable transmission at the wavelengths of interest.
  • special case note
    For safety, we strongly recommend that no viewport is exposed to a temperature ramp of greater than 2-3°C per minute, and that no viewport be exposed to direct thermal radiation. To limit thermal gradients when heating viewports, we recommend the viewing area and the flange be covered with many layers of aluminum foil to act as a reflective shield.
