It is strongly recommend using all fluids and greases at the time of receipt, however when storage is necessary, rotate older stock into use first and observe the recommended parameters listed below.
Apiezon
All Apiezon products have a shelf life of 10 years if unopened in their original container and stored at ambient temperatures. If the product has been opened, resealed and then stored in a clean, dry, dark environment under ambient conditions in the original container, it should last up to 10 years, but this is not guaranteed.
Epoxies
The KL-320K is marked with an expiration date 6 months from the date of manufacture. This date is marked "Use Before" indicating that the product will yield its best results when mixed and cured before the date shown. Store in the original sealed container at 25C temperature.
The KL-325 is marked with an expiration date 6 months from the date of manufacture. Store in the original sealed container at 25C temperature.
Fomblin
The shelf life Fomblin Y-LVAC, Y-HVAC and LC products is a minimum guarantee of 5 years. As far as the chemical stability is concerned it is over 20 years based on our experience. Within this time frame the Fomblin/Galden products, if stored under normal conditions in the original sealed containers, will maintain their chemical-physical properties unchanged.
Fomblin and Galden samples are retained for 5 years to check and guarantee the conformity to the specifications over this time frame.
Shelf Life of Fomblin Grease is a minimum of 5 years; in this case although there won't be problems in terms of chemical stability there can be oil separation over time, which is normal.
Fomblin Perfluorosolv fluids have a guaranteed shelf life of a minimum of 5 years from date of shipment if stored in the original sealed container at ambient temperatures.
Galden
Galden Fluids have a guaranteed shelf life of a minimum of 5 years from date of shipment if stored in the original sealed container at ambient temperatures.
Hydrocarbon Oils
The manufacture date is marked on the oil container. The longevity of products shipped is based primarily on the storage and handling conditions after the product leaves the control of the Kurt J Lesker Company. Limited laboratory testing indicates that all products will last more than three years from the date of shipment, if unopened and stored in a dry and dark environment at a temperature range of 60F-85F (15-30C). It is up to the individual customer to evaluate the longetivity (expiration date) of the product based on their particular storage and handling conditions. Any product that is beyond 3 years of the manufacture date, should be tested prior to use, regardless of how the oil was stored.
Silicone Oils & Grease
Shelf life is minimum 5 years when material is kept in original container and stored at normal, ambient temperatures out of direct sunlight.
When stored under normal warehouse conditions, Dow Corning High Vacuum Grease has a shelf life of 60 months from date of manufacture, which is marked on each tube.
Santovac 5
The shelf life for Santovac 5 is 7 years from date of manufacture if stored in a sealed container. If product has been opened or stored in a metal can, it is recommended to test the product after 5 years.
