Flex Metal Bellows — Edge Welded with CF Flanges

We fabricate these CF flanged edge-welded bellows for UHV systems from 347 stainless steel hoses and 304L stainless steel knife-edge (ConFlat) flanges. In contrast to hydraulically formed metal hoses, edge-welded bellows are very flexible and tend to spring back to their natural length (typically midway between their extended and compressed lengths) when not under vacuum. The CF flange is the most widely used for high vacuum and UHV applications. Many gauges, instruments, accessories and feedthroughs are available on this flange system.

The maximum bakeout temperature for the Stainless Steel Bellows is 250°C

Notes:

These hoses and bellows terminate in 304L stainless steel CF flanges (one fixed, one rotatable). We can supply other terminations, such as tube ends, and KF or ISO vacuum flanges. The lengths listed are for one segment; we offer longer or shorter bellows on request. The last numeral in the part number refers to the flange style bellows as shown in Figures 1, 2, & 3.
UPS will deliver a maximum length of 8'. Lengths over 8' require special packaging and shipping (motor freight) at an additional nominal cost. Customer can approve other packaging/shipping methods.
The compressed and extended lengths given in the table below applies to the whole assembly. The bellow's stroke can be calculated by subtracting the compressed length from the extended length. The free (relaxed or natural) length is approximately equal to the stroke. Additional segments can be custom ordered to facilitate more stroke. The Bellows should not be compressed or extended beyond the recommended length.
